Pack odds & Duplex
Card packs are a cosmetic collectible. Here are the exact odds, the same for everyone, and everything else about how packs and Duplex work.
The odds

After the rarity is rolled, the card itself is chosen at random from all 78 cards in the deck, each equally likely. So the chance that one card in a pack is a particular card at Legendary rarity (say, The Star) is 1 in 7,800.
How a pack works
- Before you open a pack, you choose its art style: Traditional or Anime. All 3 cards come in that style.
- Each of the 3 cards rolls its rarity on its own, using the odds above, and then a card from the full deck. One card's result never affects another's.
- The cards are revealed rarest last, so the best card is the final flip.
- There are no hidden modifiers: no “pity” counters, no streak bonuses and no changes based on your history, your plan or the time of day. The odds above are the whole story.
Getting packs
- Free weekly packs: 1 a week on Free, 3 a week on Pro. Weeks start on Monday in your time zone. Unused free packs don't carry over to the next week.
- Extra packs: 120 Duplex each, as many as your balance allows.
Duplex
Duplex is Taroting's in-app currency. It can only be earned, never bought:

Duplex has no cash value. It can't be bought, sold, transferred to another account, or exchanged for money or anything outside Taroting. It isn't your property, and it ends when your account is closed. Our Terms of Service have the full rules.
Duplicates
A duplicate is a card you already own in the same art style and at the same rarity. You keep it (your collection shows how many copies you have) and you also get Duplex back: Common +5, Rare +15, Epic +40, Legendary +100. The same card at a different rarity, or in the other art style, counts as a new variant, not a duplicate.
Rarity is cosmetic
Rarity changes a card's frame, finish and animation, and nothing else. A Legendary card means exactly the same in a reading as a Common one, and owning cards never changes what you can do on Taroting, the cards you draw in readings, or the odds of future packs.
Other ways cards arrive
- Your archetype card is Legendary, in the art style you choose, and you claim it once when you create your account. It doesn't come from a pack.
- Your daily card is added to your collection as a Common, in your chosen art style, if you don't already have that one.
No real money
No real money ever buys a pack, a card or Duplex on Taroting. Pro is a subscription for features such as more readings and mentors; it also includes 3 free packs a week instead of 1, but there is no way to pay for individual packs or for Duplex.
