1. About these terms
These Terms of Service (“terms”) are an agreement between you and Taroting (“we”, “us”, “our”). They cover the website, your account and everything you can do with it, including Pro. By creating an account or using Taroting, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Taroting.
Three other documents form part of this agreement: our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information; our AI & Safety page, which explains how the AI works and what it will and won't do; and our Pack odds page, which sets out exactly how card packs and Duplex work.
2. Who can use Taroting
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use Taroting. We ask for your birth year when you sign up and we refuse sign-ups from anyone younger. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we'll close it and delete its data.
You must also be able to enter into a binding contract where you live, and you must not be barred from using services like ours under the laws that apply to you.
3. Your account
- Give us accurate information, including a real email address you can access and your real birth year.
- Keep your password private and don't share your account. You're responsible for what happens in your account, so tell us straight away at support@taro-ting.com if you think someone else has used it.
- One account per person. Please don't create extra accounts to get more free readings, packs or trials.
- You can change your details and preferences in Settings, download a copy of your data, and delete your account there at any time.
4. What Taroting is, and what it isn’t
Taroting is a tarot website for entertainment and self-reflection. It offers an archetype quiz, a daily card, readings, a journal, lessons, a card collection and AI mentors. Tarot here is a way to think about your life from a new angle. It is not a way to learn what will happen.
Nothing on Taroting is medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or any other professional advice, and nothing on it is a prediction. Please don't use a reading to make an important decision about your health, safety, money, relationships or legal position on its own; talk to a qualified professional instead. If you are in crisis or in danger, contact emergency services or a crisis line now. Our AI & Safety page lists them.
5. AI-generated content
Readings and the three mentors (Mara, Orrin and Juno) are generated by artificial intelligence, using Claude models from Anthropic. The mentors are fictional characters with an AI voice. They are not people, and nobody at Taroting writes their replies.
- AI can be wrong, inconsistent or unexpected. A reading can sound confident and still be unhelpful, and it may occasionally say something that doesn't fit you or that you find upsetting.
- We give the AI firm rules (no predictions, no professional advice, no romantic or sexual roleplay, and a crisis path that always comes first) and we screen messages for signs of crisis. We can't promise every output will be perfect.
- You decide what to do with what you read. Please use your own judgment, and tell us at support@taro-ting.com if a response is harmful or wrong.
- You may keep, quote and share the readings generated for you, for personal and non-commercial purposes.
6. Free and Pro
Taroting has a free plan and a paid plan called Pro. What each plan includes is shown on our pricing page. Today, Free includes 1 reading a day and 5 messages a day with Mara; Pro adds readings whenever you want (within the fair-use limit in section 10), every spread, all three mentors with up to 50 messages a day, the full lesson path, 3 free card packs a week and your whole reading history. Daily allowances reset at midnight in the time zone saved in your Settings.
We keep improving Taroting, so features may change over time. If we make a change that materially reduces what Pro includes, we'll tell you in advance and you can cancel before it affects you.
7. Subscriptions, the free trial and billing
Price
Pro costs $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year, in US dollars. If sales tax, VAT or a similar tax applies where you live, it is shown at checkout before you pay. Your bank may charge its own fees, for example for currency conversion.
Free trial
New Pro subscribers get a 3-day free trial, once per account. You add a payment method when you start the trial, but you aren't charged during it. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your subscription starts automatically and you'll be charged the price of the plan you chose ($9.99 a month or $59.99 a year). You can cancel during the trial in Settings → Manage subscription and you won't be charged at all.
Automatic renewal
Pro renews automatically at the end of each billing period (every month or every year, depending on your plan) and we charge the payment method on file at the start of each new period, until you cancel. Where the law requires it, we'll remind you before a yearly plan renews.
Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never touch our servers. If a payment fails, Stripe may try again over the following days; if it still can't be collected, your account moves back to Free until the payment is made.
Price changes
If we change the price of Pro, we'll tell you by email at least 30 days before the new price applies to you. The change takes effect from your next renewal after that notice, and you can cancel before then if you don't want to continue.
8. Canceling and refunds
You can cancel any time in Settings → Manage subscription. That opens Stripe's secure customer portal, where you can cancel, switch between monthly and yearly, update your card and download receipts. You don't need to contact us or give a reason.
- When you cancel, your subscription stops renewing. Pro stays on until the end of the period you've already paid for, then your account moves to Free. Your readings, journal, cards and Duplex stay in your account.
- If you cancel during the free trial, you won't be charged.
- Payments are non-refundable and we don't give refunds or credits for part of a billing period, except where the law requires it (for example, the EU and UK right to cancel in section 9) or where these terms say otherwise.
- If you were charged by mistake, or something went wrong on our side, email support@taro-ting.com and we'll put it right.
- Deleting your account doesn't, by itself, guarantee that a subscription is canceled with our payment provider. If you have Pro, please cancel in Settings → Manage subscription before you delete your account.
9. Your 14-day right to cancel (EU and UK)
If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, consumer law gives you the right to withdraw from (cancel) your Pro subscription within 14 days of the day you subscribe, without giving a reason. If your subscription starts with a free trial, the 14 days start on the day you start the trial.
Pro is a digital service that starts straight away. So when you subscribe, we ask you to confirm that you want Pro to start immediately, during the 14-day period, and to acknowledge that if you then withdraw you'll pay for the Pro you had before you told us. Where the law treats what you received as digital content rather than a service, that request and acknowledgement mean you lose the right to withdraw once you have access.
To withdraw, email support@taro-ting.com from your account email within the 14 days, saying that you want to withdraw. You don't have to use any particular form. We'll cancel your subscription and refund what you paid, minus an amount in proportion to the paid days of Pro you had before you told us. We refund to your original payment method within 14 days of receiving your request. If you withdraw during the free trial, nothing has been charged: canceling in Settings is enough.
10. Fair use
Pro includes readings whenever you want. Every AI reading has a real cost, so to keep Taroting fast and affordable for everyone and to stop automated or abusive use, Pro readings have a fair-use daily cap. It is set well above what one person reading for themselves would use. If you reach it, you'll see a message and can read again after midnight in your time zone.
Mentors have published daily limits (5 messages a day on Free, 50 on Pro). We may also apply technical limits, such as rate limits, to protect the service. When our AI provider is unavailable, readings fall back to the written card meanings and mentors take a short rest until it's back.
11. Duplex, card packs and other virtual items
Duplex is Taroting's in-app currency. You earn it by using Taroting: for example +10 for your daily card, +20 for finishing a lesson, +50 for a seven-day streak, and refunds for duplicate cards. You can spend it on extra card packs (120 Duplex each).
- Duplex has no cash value. It can't be bought, sold, transferred to anyone else, or redeemed for money, goods or anything outside Taroting. You can't buy Duplex or card packs with real money.
- Cards and packs are cosmetic collectibles. Rarity changes a card's look, never its meaning or your readings. The exact odds, duplicate refunds and weekly free packs are published on our Pack odds page, and they are the same for everyone.
- Duplex, cards and other virtual items are a limited license to use them inside Taroting. They aren't your property and they end when your account is closed.
- We may correct balances or collections that are wrong because of a bug or misuse, and we may change how Duplex is earned or spent with reasonable notice. We will never change the odds of a pack you have already opened.
12. Acceptable use
Please use Taroting kindly and lawfully. In particular, don't:
- break the law, or use Taroting to harass, threaten, exploit or harm anyone;
- try to make the AI produce harmful, sexual, hateful or illegal content, or get around its safety rules (for example with “jailbreak” prompts);
- share other people's private or sensitive information in your questions or chats without their permission;
- use bots, scrapers or other automated tools to access Taroting, or copy our content or AI outputs in bulk;
- interfere with or overload the service, probe it for vulnerabilities without our permission, or try to get into accounts or systems that aren't yours;
- reverse-engineer the site, except where the law allows it;
- resell Taroting, use it to run a paid reading service for others, or use it for any other commercial purpose without our written permission;
- exploit bugs to gain Duplex, cards or features; please report them to us instead.
If you find a security problem, please tell us at support@taro-ting.com.
13. Your content
Your questions, journal reflections and mentor messages belong to you. You give us permission to store, process and show them to you, and to send them to our service providers (such as our AI provider) only as needed to run Taroting for you. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep by law. We don't publish your content and we don't sell it.
You're responsible for what you write. Please don't submit anything you don't have the right to share.
14. Our content and intellectual property
Taroting, including its design, card art, written card meanings, lessons, mentor characters, software and name, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Taroting for your own non-commercial purposes under these terms. Please don't copy, republish or sell our content beyond that, apart from short quotations with a credit to Taroting.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely to improve Taroting, without owing you anything.
15. Suspension and closing accounts
You can stop using Taroting at any time, and you can delete your account in Settings.
We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we must do so by law, or if your use creates a risk for other people or for Taroting. Where it's reasonable, we'll warn you first and explain why. If we close your account because you broke these terms, we won't refund any subscription.
We may also decide to stop offering Taroting. If we do, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice, the chance to download your data, and a refund of any prepaid subscription for the time after it closes. If we close your account for any other reason that isn't your fault, we'll refund the unused part of any prepaid subscription too.
16. Disclaimers
We work hard to keep Taroting running well, but we provide it “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we don't promise that it will always be available, error-free or secure, that readings or other content will be accurate, complete or suitable for you, or that it will meet your expectations.
If you are a consumer, you have legal rights that these terms can't take away (for example, in the UK and EU, the right to a service provided with reasonable care and skill). Nothing in these terms affects those rights.
17. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law doesn't allow us to limit or exclude.
Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows:
- we aren't responsible for decisions you make, or things you do or don't do, because of a reading, a mentor's reply or other content on Taroting;
- we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of profit, business or opportunity (Taroting is for personal use);
- we aren't liable for the loss of Duplex, cards or other virtual items, which have no monetary value;
- we aren't liable for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control;
- our total liability to you for all claims relating to Taroting is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose and US$50.
If you live in the EU or UK, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill, but not for loss that isn't foreseeable.
18. Changes to Taroting and to these terms
We may update Taroting and these terms from time to time, for example to reflect new features, changes in the law, or how people use the service. The date at the top shows when these terms last changed.
If a change materially affects you, we'll tell you at least 14 days before it takes effect, by email or with a notice on the site. If you don't agree with the change, you can cancel your subscription and stop using Taroting before it takes effect. If you keep using Taroting after that, the new terms apply.
19. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the country where Taroting is established. If you are a consumer, this choice of law doesn't take away the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country (or US state) where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live.
If something goes wrong, please email us first at support@taro-ting.com. Most problems can be sorted out quickly and informally.
20. General
- These terms, together with the documents named in section 1, are the whole agreement between you and us about Taroting.
- If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- We may transfer this agreement to an organization that takes over Taroting; we'll tell you if that happens, and it won't reduce your rights. You can't transfer your account or this agreement.
- Nobody else has rights under these terms.
